Dr. Seuss' Birthday Celebration!
"You're never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child."

We love books and we love Dr. Seuss, so what better way to celebrate his birthday than with books and storytime, snacks and fun Seussical crafts. We'll also host a free giveaway, in which library card holders can be signed up for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate.
Please note: To participate in our giveaway, you must have a library card or be signed up for a library card. One entry per person.

For more information on our free, family-fun day, make sure to contact our Avoca Branch Library by stopping by 1550 Volunteer Parkway in Bristol, Tennessee, or give us a call at 423-968-9663. We hope to see you on March 3!

The Kids Classic Book Club is all about kids jumping feet first into the classics.  Everyone who participates gets to keep a copy of the book and join us as we read, create, and explore.  We meet every Friday at 4:00 p.m. and, this month, we're reading Mr. Popper's Penguins by Richard and Florence Atwater.  Make sure to join us as we explore new books!

Bigger Kids' Classic Book Club
For our older kids who still love books, we're making a new book club just for you!  Every Monday at 6:00 p.m. we'll meet at the Avoca Branch Library to read, create, and discuss a new book each month.  For March, we're reading The Borrowers by Mary Norton.  And, don't forget, readers who participate in our book club will be able to take home a free copy of the book!

La Leche League
La Leche League meets at the Avoca Branch library on the first Friday of the month.  This month, they're meeting on March 2 at 10:00 a.m.  Their purpose is to meet with local mothers and provide a network of support for and information on breastfeeding.  To learn more about their organization, please visit their website at http://www.lllmountainempire.org/home.

Friends of the Library
The Friends of the Library perform an important function at the Avoca Branch, helping fund and plan programs, donating both time and food to the library.  They are invaluable to our continued success, and Avoca would not be the same without them.  If you are interested in joining the Avoca Friends of the Library, we typically meet on the first Monday of each month at noon.  This month, they will be meeting on March 5.

If you are interested in joining the Friends of the Library or learning more about what they do, drop in for our monthly meeting or contact the Avoca Branch Library at 423-968-9663.

Other Programs
The Avoca Branch Library will be offering a free class on creating Fairy Gardens & Terrariums!  Starting at 5:30 p.m. on March 20, registered participants will have the opportunity to come into the Avoca Branch and create a personalized terrarium or fairy garden.  All you need to bring is a glass jar, fish bowl, empty cookie jar, vase, or whatever you want to put your fairy garden in!

We'll also be hosting a canvas class at 2:00 p.m. on March 10.  We'll be painting shamrocks to celebrate St. Patrick's Day!  The fee for this class is $5 per person, but we will provide all the supplies you need, including:  canvas, paint, brushes, ribbons, glue, templates, instruction, and more.
