Children's Department


Special Events
Starting on January 10, the Children's Department will be hosting the Winter Family Reading Program.  During January and February, children and their families are welcome to visit the library on Thursday nights at 6:00 p.m. to participate in our fun winter events, such as movies, dinner, crafts, and much more.  Our schedule includes:
  • February 7:  PROGRAM IT!  Try out spheros, ozobots, battlebots and more!
  • February 21:  Family Skate Night at Bristol Skateway!
All Winter Family Reading events are completely free to attend and no registration is necessary.  To participate, simply drop in and enjoy an evening of family-friendly fun!  Please note, parents must accompany children during the Family Skate Night.  No drop-offs are allowed.  For more information, please contact the Children's Department at 276-821-6153.

Children's Storytime
Our Children's Library will be offering storytime on Mondays at 11:30 and Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m.
  • February 4 & 5:  Winter Fun!
  • February 11 & 12:  Valentine's Day party! (bring 20 signed valentines!)
  • February 19:  Penguins
  • February 25 & 26:  The Mitten

8-12 Year Old Book Club
Are you between the age of 8 and 12 (or know someone who is) and like to read?  Then check out our 8-12 year old book club!  We meet on Wednesdays at 5:00 p.m. to read a new books.  This month, we're meeting on February 13 and February 27 to read EllRay Jakes is NOT a Chicken by Sally Warner.

American Girl Book Club
Our American Girl Book Club meets on Mondays at 5:00 p.m. to read brand new books from the American Girls' world!  This month, we're meeting on February 11 and February 25 to continue our adventures with Samantha with The Stolen Sapphire by Sarah Buckey.

Build it with Legos!
We love building things, and we hope you do too!  We meet on the last Saturday of the month at 9:30 a.m. to build, imagine, and create with Legos.  This month, we're meeting on February 23.  Make sure to drop in anytime to participate.  It's going to be fun, we promise!
