Libby: Exploration!

Welcome back to our Libby tutorial!

This week, we're exploring Libby and learning more about how to search collections, updating preferences, and checking out reading guides.  To start, you'll want to make sure you've logged in to your Tennessee READS account through Libby (which you can learn about here).

When using Libby, you can actually set your preferences from the homepage.  After you click "Preferences" beneath the Tennessee READS logo, you'll have the option of customizing your search and book recommendation preferences.

Preferences will allow you to select your format, language, availability, and more.  It's easy to set your preferences and easy to remove them.  For instance, if you decide you want to view books and media that are currently available, change your availability preference from "Everything" to "Available Now" and click "Apply Preferences."

If you would like to remove your preferences, simply return to the drop down menu and change your preferences back to default.  You can return to default by clicking the original preferences or tapping the red "X" beside your current preferences, and then click "Apply Preferences" to save your changes.

Exploring Libby is just as easy!  When you scroll further down, you'll discover options to find what's new, what's popular, and what's available in both e-books and audiobooks.

Tennessee READS also offers catalog guides, subject lists, and Spotlights.  Spotlights are carefully crafted reading lists with fun and interesting categories like "Unreliable Narrators & Unlikable People" and "Spies Like Us" and "Kitchen Confessions."  You also have the option to check out your past searches and look back at the books, audiobooks, and media you've already explored.

If you continue to scroll through the Tennessee READS homepage (which you can reach at any time by clicking "Library" in the navigation panel), you'll find highlighted collections.  During our search, we found a variety of humorous and interesting collections, such as:

  • Bouquet of Books:  Flower-Filled Covers
  • Fantastic Beasts & How We Love Them
  • The Rory Gilmore Reading Challenge
  • Joke's on You
  • Made in Tennessee
  • "Red" Anything good Lately?
  • Cowboy Take Me Away

These collections can vary from week-to-week or even day-to-day.  Check back often to find new collections that feature different books on a similar theme!
